Born in England, Dennis Noble came to Canada at thirteen. He studied art at the Ontario College of Art, from which he graduated in 1966. His magazine/editorial art has appeared internationally and has won awards in Canada, the United States, and Japan. He was commissioned by Canada Post to design and paint the berry stamps (2003), ten maple tree stamps for Canada Day (1994) and the lighthouse series which won him the Stamp of the Year award in 1981. Between 1966 and 1987 his paintings appeared in shows at the Art Gallery of Ontario and in the Hazelton Lane, Pagurian, and Market Galleries in Toronto, among others. Since then the Stonechurch has taken over this function, housing the permanent collection of 78 of the 283 paintings of the Lovers Series, which Dennis Noble has painted since the early 1990s. He has also done a series of bird paintings since 2000. Some are in the permanent collection exhibited all year round in the church. Others are for sale and can be viewed during special exhibitions or by appointment.
